In 2020, Carey Watermark Investors 1 and 2 merged to form Watermark Lodging Trust (WLT), a self-managed, non-traded real estate investment trust. WLT owns a portfolio of high-quality lodging assets in “premier” locations in markets with great growth prospects and a high barrier to entry.
WLT seeks to eventually turn into a publicly traded REIT, but COVID has slowed their timeline. In preparation for this eventuality, AAJdesign thoroughly reviewed communications from publicly traded REITs in the luxury lodging space.
As a first step, we designed a distinctive website that showcases WLT’s properties in a bold manner. We then established branding guidelines for the eventual creation of investor materials such as presentations and annual reports. WLT has now aligned itself, through differentiated design and communications, with other major publicly-traded REITs.
