EducationWorks (EW) is a mission driven organization that engages youth across many programs, including, education, workforce and health. EW is a vibrant organization “enriching education and career readiness programming, with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM), entrepreneurship, and social and emotional wellness.” These programs are run Out-of-School, In-School and through the summer. EW has impacted thousands of young people in Philadelphia and beyond.
Despite all of EW’s successes, their external communications and fundraising did not effectively leverage the good news. EW’s website was incomplete, making user engagement challenging. Their brand identity had not been deployed consistently and there was no electronic or print documents that clearly defined their programs and/or chronicled their many successes.
AAJdesign did a thorough analysis of their communications and branding documents, including those of their peers. In collaboration with their Chief Advancement Officer, AAJdesign developed the tools to support their mission, tout their successes and create more effective development tools.
Our first task was to design a long-overdue online and print impact report that reflected the energy of the organization. We simplified the look and feel of their brand standards by adopting the EW logotype as the primary brand signature across the organization and identified simplified typeface standards and a bold color scheme. In addition, our design for the online Impact Report and associated web standards were used for the development of their new website. EW has received positive feedback from their constituencies—in addition to improved online traffic, improved critical understanding of their mission and purpose, greater visibility and internally, access to effective fundraising tools.
